Turkey 2014

Every year my family and I go to stay in my Mum's house in Turkey for a few weeks. Its in a lovely town called Kalkan which when we first started visiting there, almost ten years ago, was a small fishing village with a few restaurants. Its definitely changed and become a lot more popular in the last few years but no less perfect for a get away.

Here are a few photos from our latest trip. As you can tell we love visiting the World Heritage sites in the area and really enjoy learning about Turkish history and culture. We always visit Xanthos an ancient Lycian city, this year we also visited Patara another beautiful Lycian city and the birth place of St Nicolas.

We also visit the amazing Saklikent Gorge every time we go, which unfortunately I never get photos of as we always get soaking wet from spelunking through the canyon. My top place to visit has to be the Greek island of Kastellorizo. Without meaning to sound horribly cheesy Kastellorizo is as close to perfect as you can get. Its a teeny town with an amazing bakery, restaurants and coffee shops (which we really miss in Turkey). You can swim in the harbour with the wild Sea Turtles and explore the Castle and wee churches. Just writing about it makes me want to go back!

I hope you all enjoyed your Summer and I promise I'll be back to regular blogging now that I'm back.
